My Rant
My rant for the night:
I have to say the "health police" suck. Today I went to McDonald's and ordered a Happy Meal at lunch. Yes, I still order Happy Meals because they are a smaller portion and therefore I find some strange way to squeeze them into my diet and allow me to feed my occasional cravings while still trying to maintain some sensible weight. They are also fairly cheap and we are on a bit of a budget.
Anyhow, I ordered my Happy Meal and took it back to work. When I went to eat it, I found the usual little cheeseburger and drink, but when I went to dig out the fries I was taken back. My fries were this t-tiny little miniature version of the large red fry box. I have to admit it was adorably cute, but rather pointless. I was fully expecting at least my "small" fry. I found instead something that was about a quarter of the size of the normal small fry. I also found, to my annoyance, a package of apples. I didn't ask for t-tiny fry and apples.
If had I wanted apples, I would have asked for them. Now, don't get me wrong, I eat my fair share of fruit. I am probably one of the only people in the world who grabs bananas and fruit mixes at 7-Eleven, but when I want to treat myself, I go for a nice Happy Meal (moderate, but still good) to appease my cravings... why does the health police get to decide what I get? And even more so, why do they get to decide what I feed my children? Isn't that my right to decide?
What happen to America.. home of the free? Where's my freedom of choice? Has McDonald's gone communist? WHERE IS MY FREAKIN' HAPPY MEAL?!?!

Insurance Nightmares
Well, here I am approaching my 1 year cancer checkup. Unfortunately, it appears it's going to have to be postponed. The COBRA has ended and we haven't managed to get everything together for the Texas High Risk Pool yet.
I absolutely despise applying for government related programs. This paperwork is really a hassle because you have to get your employer, your spouses employer, your oncologist AND your previous insurance company to all submit forms/letters to prove you are eligible. In addition to this, you have to fill out a form showing every medication and every doctors visit you've had in the past 6 months.
Once you get everything together and finally submit it, you get to pay $500+ a month depending on the deductible you choose. And that is just for me! Jesse and Katie will have to try to get private insurance somewhere, I guess. I just keep hoping I'll get on permanently at Compucom before we go broke trying to keep my insurance from lapsing. Some days I think it might just be easier to give up and go with JPS (free hospital in Fort Worth for those of you out of state).
Oh yeah, thanks Obama, for nothing!
