First Treatment Abraxane

This first chemo took me a few days to recuperate from.  Today is the first day I've really been up moving around or doing much of anything other than what I absolutely had to do.  The chemo really wiped me out and I had some ongoing stomach pain that is a combination of the treatment side effects, liver metastasis and bone metastasis in my ribs.

I decided to take short term disability due to the weekly chemo treatments.  I'm glad that I made this choice, because it would have been fairly difficult to drag myself to the computer every day and attempt to concentrate on work this week.  This gives me a chance to focus on my treatment and not worry about juggling work responsibilities with my appointments.

They have me a on a three weeks on, three weeks off cycle.  This means that I will have a chemo treatment once a week for three weeks, then have a week off.  Every couple of months I will get a CT Scan to determine how well the treatment is working.  This cycle (scan, treat, repeat) will continue as long as the treatment appears to be working.  They have me set up for Monday treatments, so my next treatment will be Monday, August 18.

I am still doing the daily Anakinra shots.  I have not had any side effects or problems.  It burns pretty bad when I inject it, but other than that, I see no effect (good or bad).   I am hoping that the chemo knocks back the cancer and the Anakinra breaks the cycle and keeps it knocked back and keeps it from spreading further.  If it works, I might be able to just take the shots to keep it from coming back and live a somewhat normal life again.
